1. San Diego Zoo Kids: offers Animal Stories, Videos, Activities, Games, Fun Fact, How You Can Help and more! Break it up over the break and there will be something educational and fun to do each day!
2. The Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute: Friends of the National Zoo offer educational programming for all ages through classes and school programs. They also have live cams on the: Pandas, Elephants, Lions and the Naked Mole-rat.
3. Houston Zoo: Tune in to the Houston Zoo Webcams and enjoy a live look at animals that call the Houston Zoo home! See the herd of Asian elephants wander through their enormous habitat. Watch as giraffes nibble lettuce fed to them by guests at the feeding platform; you could join them on your next visit. See the rhinos roll in their mud puddle or the flamingos float next to a waterfall. See the chimpanzees interact with guests at their window or snooze in a hammock.
4. Cincinnati Zoo: Each day from March 16-20, the Cincinnati Zoo will feature a different resident in a virtual animal encounter. This Facebook LIVE allows observers to ask questions and learn more about the animals and their needs. Their YouTube channels is also filled with plenty of fun videos in case you miss the live including clips of our favorite Fiona the Hippo.
5. Week of Awesome Afternoons with Chris Field: Chris Field is offering families FREE afternoon experiences where each day they will take children on a virtual tour! Each day at 3:00 PM children will learn about a variety of topics from giraffes to law enforcement.
6. ZooAmerica: Everyday this week, March 17-20, ZooAmerica will feature in a Facebook LIVE a different animal that is fun and educational at 11:00 AM. The first animal to be featured is the River Otter!
7. Virginia Zoo: Escape from the ordinary and awaken your wild side by joining the Zoo for a Virtual Voyage every day at 2 pm EST (March 16 – 30, 2020) on our social media. You can go behind the scenes, tour the Zoo, and cure your curiosity (or boredom!) with our animals, Keepers and Education staff.
8. The Dallas Zoo, which is closed at least through March 20, began sharing behind-the-scenes footage and educational videos on social media, using the hashtag #BringTheZooToYou.
9. At the Oregon Zoo, which is closed through April 8, staff members assured the public that the animals were being cared for and promised to keep the zoo’s social media accounts updated with videos of the creatures.
